US Marine vs. NYPD Cops (OWS) - the root of American doom

What do you think if this "opinion exchange" gets larger proportions? Would it mean apocalyptic doom of American society and the end of America as we know it?

United States Marine Corps. Sgt. Shamar Thomas from Roosevelt, NY went toe to toe with the New York Police Department. An activist in the Occupy Wall Street movement, Thomas voiced his opinions of the NYPD police brutality that had and has been plaguing the OWS movement.

Thomas is a 24-year-old Marine Veteran (2 tours in Iraq), he currently plays amateur football and is in college.

Thomas comes from a long line of people who sacrifice for their country: Mother, Army Veteran (Iraq), Step father, Army, active duty (Afghanistan), Grand father, Air Force veteran (Vietnam), Great Grand Father Navy veteran (World War II).

  10. I don't condone police brutality. But I think it's more important that we shouldn't antagonize the police any more than we have and remain united. Most policeman are just as much a part of the 99% percent as everyone else.
Some of the police out there believe they're doing their job for the good of the entire community.

  11. This video reminds me on those futuristic movies about American apocalypse. The stage is being set but for real this time. Today it's street rant, tomorrow there will be weapons talking. Doom indeed. Not good, not good...

Its like a priest wearing his frock yelling at a group of pedofiles.

  20. How many innocent Iraqis civilians were killed during his 2 tours? So ironic he's preaching about honor.

    ReplyDelete
  21. That's right, let that be a message to these tough cops out there, which by the way, are part of the 99%. Who do they think they are? Part of the 1%? No, they're the 1%'s tools...

    ReplyDelete
  22. The police are meant to protect the lawfulness of society. If violent action is necessary to fulfill this, then it is fully justified. And yes, it is constitutional.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The police can think they are doing good for they community but that does not mean they are actually doing that said good. They are just blocking people from executing their right to protest and be heard.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The repetition is important. The repetition why it sinks in. The repetition is how we learn. The repetition is how the police officers that are present HEAR his words.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  26. This guy is obviously a nutcase. Who wers there uniform in the streets after you get out? Only nutcases...the ones who were discharged for various reasons.

Go back to your box and yell at the voices in your head.

  27. To the guy/gal who said he looks like a bag of ass: I couldn't agree more. To the guy/gal who claims he was a warehouse clerk: You're right; he shouldn't be wearing his uniform like that. And, finally, to the guy/gal who asked why he's wearing his cammies: Because he's fucked in the head.
Any Marine knows when you're allowed to wear them, when you're not, what uniform is appropriate when and where, and when any uniform is inappropriately worn. He's out of line and I don't give a rats ass what he has to say; he needs to go home and change (and shave, should he decided to come back properly dressed in uniform; even though he'd still be completely out of line.)
He's currently disgracing all those who died, honorably wearing that uniform and he should be ashamed.

  49. Quit bagging on the guy for speaking what he believes. If more of the protesters were like this guy then things would get done. Its proven itself that doing nothing but sitting in a park will do nothing. Open your mouths. And quit demanding things. everyone talks about how the occupy wall street movement has no demands. Its not our job to fix it, or to even propose a fix. That is the job of the people we elect and they arent doing their jobs. Its time to just say " this isnt working, we dont know how to fix it anymore than you do, but its YOUR job. Not mine."

  50. There is a lot of power in repetition. Have you turned on a radio or a TV lately? At least this guy has something positive to reiterate.

    ReplyDelete
  51. What I see is a ranting idiot. The police in the video are not harming anyone. If this guy want to blame all police for the actions of a few he ought to be reminded that far greater atrocities have been committed by US soldiers than macing civilians. By his logic he ought to be accused of rape and murder.

    ReplyDelete
  52. This guy should know better than to be in uniform, but out of regs. He's not wearing a cover, and his blouse isn't buttoned. And he's a SGT?? Setting a shitty example for marines.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Being a warehouse clerk doesn't preclude you from deserving a CAR. Some the of most bad ass Marines I knew were POG's. And he's out now, he can do whatever the hell he wants. He may have some inactive reserve time left but they don't give a shit about those guys. Whatever regulations they break are rarely ever enforced. Full disclosure, I am a former Marine currently on inactive reserve after 5 years of active duty.

    ReplyDelete
  54. So what if those cops are non-violent, they were just embarrassed in front of everyone, they don't want that to happen again. They probably know someone who has abused a protestor and will tell them that they got yelled at and embarrassed for the shit that they did to civilians. And so what if he repeated himself... he made a scene, which is exactly what needs to be done so this bullshit doesnt happen here in America, because it shouldnt.

    ReplyDelete
  55. While Sgt. Thomas is right (in a broad stroke) this very similar to anti war protestors (indigenous or foreign) screaming at Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen/Marines and Coast Guard for the 100k dead Iraqi/Afghan civilians overseas. I appreciate Sgt. Thomas' sentiments and cannot vouch for what he witnessed in NYC, but the crimes against Americans being perpetrated by police are nothing in comparison to the crimes being committed across the world each day by the American Military Industrial Complex. "If you want to hurt people, go to Iraq..." NO. If you want to hurt people, go to hell. Accountability on all fronts or there is none. I know his intentions were good, but his message is flawed. Protect ALL.

    1. awesome ' no, if you want to hurt someone, go to hell' ..it's more probable that the realization of how absolutely wrong the (his, our) world has gone hit this Marine right between the eyes..it is shocking, when you get shocked and it makes you stumble..so it can be obvious his thought process (be)came not as polished as you would like..but you got the gist..and all you need to start a fire is the spark..

Cops 1) are part of the 99%- Yeah dude that is WHY HE"S YELLING AT THEM.
    2) If you've been in 100 ft of a TV in the past month you've deff seen cops going over the top specifically with mace on people. Someone explain the purpose of mass macing a group on people that police have already corralled with plastic barriers.
    3) Like he said they are there to guarantee the American citizens right to protest among many other things. Instead they are acting on behalf of well I hate to say it but the "big shot tycoons" who run New York City. As long as your protest is peaceful that shit is supposed to go on unabated. 67. Having someone yell in your face is antagonistic, some of those police joined to be good policemen and were very restrained. This man's sacrifice for his country was honorable, putting himself in danger in Iraq, but perhaps it doesn't help to yell at others who may also one day make a sacrifice to the really bad people who have no moral compass. Well done the police standing there not reacting. It is a sad reflection of how far we have come, one wonders what would have happened without instant media which seems to be in charge in the 21st century.

I ask all first responders and military personnel to please join the Oath Keepers, and stay within the US Constitution. As a soldier, I do.

I back those that I may agree or disagree with, and their right to assemble and speak their mind.

    ReplyDelete
  79. If he is a fool and an endless repeater as some of you state and a man who should fry for wearing his uniform, then that is your opinion and your right to have, and speak it freely. That is a right given to ALL people of this nation ...bar none. BUT, what distinguishes this man from the rest of the arm chair wannabee patriotic spineless warriors is this,...he and he alone stood face to face against a far superior force that out numbered and out gunned him by at-least 15 to 1, and with the guts and honor of a true American Patriot he dared to speak TRUTH TO POWER, he was proving his honor by carrying out the oath that he took when he CHOSE to serve his country. His patriotism combined with his hell bent determination to "PROTECT AND DEFEND THIS COUNTRY FROM ALL ENEMIES FOREIGN AN DOMESTIC" is the true value of this man. NO INDIVIDUAL has the right to question, demean, or belittle this mans honor or patriotism, not after his actions, and the risk he took of getting his skull caved in at the hands of NYPD's finest bought and paid for scumbag, little girl beating, mace shooting, GOLDMAN SACHS CORPORATE WHORES. NYPD chose to beat women and maced others, for no other purpose than to send a message to the people opposing WALL STREET CORPORATE FASCISM..."NYPD HAVE, AND WILL CONTINUE TO "SERVE AND PROTECT" THE GREEDY, MORALLY BANKRUPT,PENSION STEALING, WALL STREET CRIMINAL THUGS AND THIEVES BECAUSE WE WERE PAID 4.6 MILLION BY J.P. MORGAN BANK AN OTHER BANKS. As for the man in the video, I say to him "If and when WE THE PEOPLE are FORCED through brutality and corruption to take the same actions against our corrupt and oppressive govt. that the founders of this country were forced to take against the British, then i would feel comfort and be honored to serve my country standing shoulder to shoulder with you and any other American who would rather fight and die standing on his feet defending freedom than die on his knees licking the boots of the criminal thugs who are stealing all of the financial wealth of this nation and trampling on the constitution. And if we don't fight back now, like the man in the video, how will any of us muster up the courage to do something when we no longer have any value left in us to serve wall street and Washington and they decide to treat the value of our life as though it was just another object to be used and then discarded like the slave labor jews in ww2 Germany who peacefully walked into the gas chambers as their masters had instructed them, shortly after they were deemed to be of no further value to to the powers at the top they were gassed and thrown into a pit.
If the last part sounds extreme and you think that it could not happen here, you are wrong, this country is only one dictator away from it Keep in mind that absolute power corrupts absolute! Ask yourself this, Has any of the thousands of banker, politicians,or billionaire scum gone to prison---no! WHY?.....because absolute power corrupts absolute!... they profit from the laws that they break and that they truly believe they are a special breed of people that laws don't apply to and therefore ANYTHING they do is morally justifiable......THAT IS, UNTIL THEY COME UP AGAINST ENOUGH PEOPLE LIKE THE MAN IN THE VIDEO!!

SO GO OUT AND THANK A FOOL WHO REPEATS HIMSELF UNTIL HE IS HEARD AND RESPECTED.....HE IS THE KIND OF FOOL THAT WITHOUT HIM WE WOULD ALL BE SHEEPISH PEACEFUL WIMPS WHO QUIETLY OBEY THE MASTERS AND LEAD US AND ALL OR LOVED ONES STRAIT TO THE GAS CHAMBERS.

THAKS TO THE HERO IN THE VIDEO, I HOPE THAT HIS COURAGE IS THE FLAME THAT LIGHTS THE FUSE OF FREEDOM,...

He just blared the same thing over and over and over and over. If the police weren't out there and the loons took over they'd be screaming that the police allowed it to happen! My Grandfather was in the Calvary and fought for this country, My father was a Korean war veteran, my brother is a vietnam veteran, my husband is a vietnam veteran...blah, blah, blah! None of us would be out there screaming "NOTHING". I, personally, would use this much time to make a point...I did not agree with the bailouts! I do not agree with bonus' given to execs of bailed out companies, I do not believe in money for nothing, I do not believe in redistribution of wealth...you work, you get paid, you get ahead...It's that simple! How can these people be assembled for a month, now and not have to go to work? There are jobs out there but people don't want to start on the bottom! I wonder how many of these demonstrators pay interest on credit cards and were upside down in a mortgage that the bank gave them loans for that they didn't deserve..................GEEZ! Clean up the streets! Bring brooms and little plastic bags instead of this rhetoric! It'll be okay for the tax dollars to clean up the mess via a union worker eh?

  90. He's screaming because we all feel like screaming. The cops shouldn't be there at all, no crime has been committed (except by them)
If he is true or nuts, what he said is true. Cops have no business at a peaceful protest of unlawful behavior by government and banksters, unless they join the protest. The nypd has been paid off, by big business just like the congress, senate, president and the supreme court.

    ReplyDelete
  91. after reading all of these comments, I agree that the time to voice our disgust about govt. and corp. greed, fraud and abuse of power is long over due. As for those who make jokes and complain about the protesters you fit into the "boot liker" category, unless you have not noticed in 2008 the banks and fed. res. hank paulson extorted over a trillion $ from the tax payers and then and still today give themselves huge bonuses at our expense. Saying anything that is remotely anti protester is an absolute willing endorsement of the wall street criminal and the bought off corrupt jerks in Washington.
so go ahead and lick their boots, just do not ask for help when the same boots you choose to lick ends up being the boots that kick you in the ass as they throw you out of your home and then use the same boots to crush your skull because they also sent your job to china for some slave labor wages, and now they have no use for the boots because all the useless peasants have been disposed of and the next group to dispose of is the useless boot lickers that aided them in their quest for more power and wealth,.....I want to see you stand in support of the ruthless elite scum when its your turn to feel the boots.......so lick away your turn is coming.....soon!

The police are there to protect, but they also tend to act aggressively AS THEY ARE TRAINED TO DO in order to establish control over dangerous situations. Unfortunately, they are not trained to deal with a popular and legal protest against a government gone awry.

For the most part, both the police and the OWS people are keeping it peaceful but, in order to make the changes needed in our money controlled government, even the police are going to have to take sides. They too are the 99%.

America's True Enemies have always been living among us; and very few Americans have ever understood this! But, the will very soon....
